Dr Yohana Yembise is an academic who served as Indonesia’s Minister of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection from 2014-2019.

Dr Yembise is a trailblazer for Papuan women. In 2012 she became Papua’s first female professor at the University of Cenderawasih, and in 2014 was appointed as a minister in Indonesia’ cabinet.

Dr Yembise obtained her doctorate from the University of Newcastle in 2006 and is one of the highest achieving Australia Awards alumni.
