Dr Boediono is an Indonesian economist and politician who served as the 11th Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia from 2009 to 2014 under President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono. Prior to that he had served as Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Minister of Finance, and State Minister of National Development Planning.

Dr Boediono was awarded a Colombo Plan scholarship to study economics at the University of Western Australia (UWA) in Perth, graduating in 1967. In 1972 he completed a Masters in Economics at Monash University, Melbourne.

In 2012 Dr Boediono was recognised by UWA for his contribution to global affairs with an Honourary Doctorate. In February 2013, he was awarded the Doctors of Laws, the highest award bestowed by Monash University. Then in November 2013, in light of his longstanding links with the Indonesia Program, the Australian National University awarded him an Honourary Doctorate.
