Australia–Indonesia BRIDGE School Partnerships Program

The BRIDGE program has established 164 Australia–Indonesia school partnerships and directly involved over 655 Australian and Indonesian teachers.

The BRIDGE program has established 164 Australia–Indonesia school partnerships and directly involved over 655 Australian and Indonesian teachers.

Established in 2008, the Australia–Indonesia BRIDGE School Partnerships Program is an initiative of the Australia–Indonesia Institute and Asia Education Foundation (AEF). To date, the program has established 189 Australia–Indonesia school partnerships and directly involved over 780 Australian and Indonesian teachers.

By creating and supporting sister school partnerships BRIDGE builds relationships between Australian and Indonesian teachers and students, improves teacher capacity, cross-cultural understanding, global competencies and proficient use of new technologies for sustained collaboration. 

This immersive and blended model of professional learning supports school communities across Indonesia and Australia to build international school partnerships.

Australia-Indonesia BRIDGE Program objectives are to:

  • Create and support school-to-school partnerships

  • Improve the intercultural knowledge and skills of all participants

  • Improve the ICT knowledge and skills of all participants

  • Build professional knowledge and skills, including strategies of effective teaching practice, among participant teaching staff

  • Provide particular support to developing New Education Programme schools in Indonesia
