Ratih Hardjono
Ratih Hardjono completed her tertiary studies at the University of Sydney, Australia. She lived and worked in Australia as the international correspondent for Kompas, Indonesia’s leading daily newspaper, where she worked for 14 years. During her time as a correspondent in Australia, Ratih covered Australian issues and also international stories, travelling to many corners of the world.
Ratih Hardjono was selected as a Nieman Fellow at Harvard University, Boston, and remains the only Indonesian woman to have received a Nieman Fellowship from that university.
In 1999 she joined the campaign team for Abdurrahman Wahid. After his election as President, she became Presidential Secretary. She managed the presidential staff and seven presidential palaces, she worked to ensure all members of the press could have open access to the President.
Ms Hardjono is now a public affairs specialist and runs her own company, Mirah Sakethi, in Jakarta. She is also a Senior Advisor with the Albright Stonebridge Group based in Washington D.C.
