Every year the Australia Indonesia Youth Exchange Program (AIYEP) sends 18 young Indonesians aged 21-25 to Australia for two months (October to December) where they take part in work placements, cultural performances, home-stays and visits to local schools and communities.

18 young Australians undertake a similar program in Indonesia with their Indonesian counterparts from December to February.

The program aims to provide opportunities for young people from Indonesia and Australia to gain a better understanding of the culture, development and way of life in each country.

AIYEP alumni form a vibrant group whose members have gone on to work in areas with a continuing involvement in the bilateral relationship.
