Operation Cendrawasih. Australian air and ground survey of West Papua province conducted at the invitation of the Indonesian government. This was one of several survey operations conducted by the ADF in Indonesia, but was the first to include aerial survey capabilities from the RAAF. Other survey ops were conducted in Sumatra, Kalimantan and Maluku.

Australian Army engineers from the Darwin based engineering regiment (1CER) with the assistance if AusAID have established a water purification plant on the beach of Padang in Indonesia. The factory will convert sea water into 10,000 litres per hour of clean water for up to 75,000 households in the city when it is transferred for twenty 2000 litre water tanks that have been located in the needed areas for residents to access.
Operation Padang Assist commenced on 02 Oct 09 after the Indonesian Government accepted an offer of emergency assistance from Australia following two large earthquakes near the Indonesian Island of Sumatra.

Royal Australian Navy Armidale Class Patrol Boat HMAS Maryborough, in conjunction with Indonesian Warships KRI Wiratno and KRI Hasan Basri conducting a Coordinated Patrol in the waters between Australia and Indonesia during the period 16-27 April 2010.
The Coordinated Patrol was conducted to enhance interoperability between Indonesia and Australia in the fight against illegal maritime activity, specifically targeting illegal fishing.

On the 18th April 2010, elements of the Tentara National Indonesia Angkatan Laut (TNI-AL) and the Australian Defence Force (ADF) conducted a combined Australian/Indonesian Coordinated Patrol (AUSINDO CORPAT). The AUSINDO CORPAT took place over the period of 15-27 April 2010 to mutually enhance maritime security in both countries’ waters. AUSINDO CORPAT 2010 was the first such patrol with both countries contributing both maritime patrol aircraft and naval vessels to deter, detect and prosecute illegal activity with a focus on illegal fishing.

Pada 18 April 2010, elemen-elemen Tentara Nasional Indonesia Angkatan Laut (TNI-AL) dan Australian Defence Force (ADF) melakukan patroli gabungan Australia/Indonesia (AUSINDO CORPAT). AUSINDO CORPAT berlangsung selama periode 15-27 April 2010 untuk saling meningkatkan keamanan maritim di perairan kedua negara. AUSINDO CORPAT 2010 adalah patroli pertama dengan kedua negara yang berkontribusi baik dengan pesawat patroli maritim dan kapal angkatan laut untuk menghalangi, mendeteksi dan mengusut kegiatan ilegal dengan fokus pada penangkapan ikan ilegal.

Large groups of Indonesian Air Force technicians and pilots underwent long term (12 months+) training at the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) base in Williamtown, New South Wales, to support the gifting of Australian Sabre aircraft to TNI. A detachment of RAAF technicians, engineers and aircrew supported the introduction of the Sabres into TNI service at Iswahyudi Air Force Base. The detachment worked at Iswahyudi for 12 months+.

The ADF has been working in support of tsunami disaster relief in Indonesia's North Sumatra and Aceh Provinces since 28 December 2004.
Relief assistance provided by Australia is part of a co-operative effort involving the ADF, DFAT (AusAID), and Emergency Management Australia.
