Dr Mari Elka Pangestu

Dr Mari Elka Pangestu with former Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Australia Kevin Rudd.

Dr Mari Elka Pangestu served as Indonesia’s Minister for Trade and later became the first Minister for Tourism and Creative Economy in a newly-created portfolio. She obtained her Bachelor and Master degrees from the Australian National University and sits on the ANU’s Indonesia Project Advisor Board.

In December 2013, in recognition of her achievements as an economist and policy maker in Asia, Dr Pangestu was awarded an honorary doctorate by the ANU.
